Carlos Beltran

Born March 4th, 1986. Venezuelan journalist, writer, and director. His award-winning documentary work focuses on socio-political issues in Latin America –PASION (2011), VOLUNTAD & PAZ (2012). In 2009 he graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication and a second degree in Theater and Film. Aside from working on independent documentaries he also directed TV and Online advertising campaigns in his home country from 2010 to 2014. He was the creator and director of Venezuela’s first live action branded web series for the telecommunications carrier DIGITEL CORP (BLEEP, 2014 – a ten episode web series).

Since 2014 he has been directing character-driven short form documentaries for some of the most influential media networks in the US, including National Geographic, Discovery Digital Networks, ABC NEWS, MSNBC, NBC NEWS, AJ+, Univision, The Atlantic, The New York Post as well as directing branded content for companies such as GoPro, About.com, Pivot Desk, Take Part Productions and New Media Advocacy Project.

He is currently directing his most ambitious project yet; a ten-part documentary series on the life of NBA player, Greivis Vasquez (Greivis, The Final Shot), as he fights for his return to the basketball league. Los Angeles based distribution and production agency, DIGITAL RIOT MEDIA, has partnered with Carlos’ team in order to finalize production. This documentary series will be shot between in the United States and Venezuela.
