Mauricio Hoyos

He was born and raised in the city of Cartago, Colombia.

At 11 years of age, he authored his first graphic novel, flecha veloz, the history of a gunslinger who is accidentally sent to the year 2143.

At 12, on the pages of his religion class notebook, he created his second graphic novel, something from the movies, where he, his brother, and his closest friends were the main characters, and the antagonist was his favorite movie character — Freddy Krueger from nightmare on elm street.

By 14, he had already filmed and directed his first short film the night that the thieves were caught, with a camera borrowed from a friend.

In 2004, began working fotokem film LAB, developing and processing feature films like Iron Man, Mission Impossible III, Babel, Into the Wild, Domino, and Tv Shows like Breaking bad, Entourage, Csi, and Desperate housewives.

He also interned at new line Cinema’s Development Department (Lord of the Rings Trilogy). For him, that he wa now working at the studios that created the nightmare on Elm Streetmovies.

While in school, he wrote and directed three more short films, One documentary, and three music videos.

In 2010, he began his freelance career as a still photographer, working in the promos of the CBS, FOX, the CW, NBC, and E! Latin america Tv Shows.

Mauricio has also led many projects including the Coverage of Sony spin: E3 convention, an Interview with Miley Cyrus, the Funimation Channel Coverage of Comic-Con 2014, the 2014 Nickelodeon Kids choice sports awards, and Univision’s Coverage of the Uforia Music Festival.

He is currently in post-production for his first feature film the painting, his Documentary Chronicles of a Kidnapping, and the pre-production of his next feature film Al Otro Lado del Río.

Mauricio holds a Bachelor’s Degree in writing and directing.

He lives in Los Angeles, California.
