Director Fanny Veliz' film "Il Destino" nominated for
2010 Imagen Award in the best theatrical short film category
Los Angeles, CA. August 2010 – "Il Destino", Director Fanny Veliz' latest film has been nominated for an Imagen Award. As the nominations were announced Veliz' welcomed the nod and is grateful for the recognition having a personal understanding of the hard work and commitment that all of the nominees and filmmakers put into their films. "Il Destino" is based on the true story of a man who upon finding himself at a low point in his life reencounters with the love of his youth and transforms his life. The film has been screening locally and has also been accepted as an official selection of the Cinesol Film Festival that takes place in Texas. The 25th Annual Imagen Awards are scheduled to be celebrated at a luncheon on Sunday, August 15th, 2010 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Fanny Veliz is a multi-talented filmmaker who directs, writes, produces and acts, as such, this isn't the first time Veliz' work is recognized at this level. With her Criolla Productions, Veliz' has directed short films that have been accepted to some of the major film festivals and have also been in the running for coveted awards. Her production company has produced the films, “Touch Up”, “3some”, and "Shortstop" which have run the film festival circuit Nationally and Internationally. Veliz' goal is to shed a unique light into the urban Latino community using film. Her eyes are now set into directing and producing a feature length film.
"Il Destino" stars, Yeniffer Behrens as Stephania and Rafael O. Calderon as Carlos. “Il Destino” was produced by Veliz, Sandra Verona and Manuel Andrade. Mr. Andrade’s real life story inspired the film.
